so glad that rift apart is apparently optimized enough that it can run on steam deck, just glad more people will get to play it
both for the inevitable rivet mods
but also so there's hopefully more gary fanart
ok, played through to the title card (medium, 45fps fsr 2.1 cap, 40fps steam deck cap - dropping the settings to low as soon as i realized that it was on medium. still a few hitches here and there on low, but not too bad - a little loading time during the portal jump segment as well)
initial impressions a little worrying
- crashed during the swap to ratchet part of the intro cutscene
- second attempt - load autosave at the swap to ratchet part, successfully finished cutscene, only for none of the floor to load - first screenshot above is after falling through the death barrier
- restart last checkpoint. end up in glitchy version of nefarious city with ratchet & clank, with a lot of non-solid scenery.
- quit game and reload, end up back in same place
- delete just created file, skip all intro cinematics, and this time it works properly
so yeah
i managed to accidentally softlock myself on the PS5 version when i played at launch as well, so i think i'm going to give this a few weeks and see if it gets anything to improve stability a bit
still, the fact it works on steamdeck at all, i consider pretty much a miracle
