work scheduled me for overtime at 6am on a thursday.
5-7am thursdays is one of the main times we get into VR. ordinarily, we'd just skip, but a creature we love is going through some important things tomorrow and we wanted to be there in some way to wish them luck
so we needed an avatar designed for desktop mode - and got inspired by the sonic the comic strip with an evil extra life
it took more time than i'd like to admit for troubleshooting 1, but as a rush job i'm pretty happy with how this one turned out, and i got to learn about how flipbooks work in poiyomi in case i want to do something silly with that in future
and i got to join in using steamdeck and headset while also trying to fix servers! fun.
(also experience what happens if you don't turn vrchat's performance settings on steamdeck to display only the creatures closest to you before it attempts to load everyone's avatars in - because i think this is the first time we've tried to load into VRC using it with other players)

VRCHAT PROTIP: if you're uploading something that wasn't meant to be an avatar, it still needs an avatar definition in the FBX import options's rig tab. Otherwise, VRChat will let you upload as long as there's an Animator component on the avatar, but menus will be broken, it won't be able to play any animations, and the debug overlay will be missing most of the information.
