The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro rules, man. I can play Steam games (and non-steam games I’ve added) from my computer over Steam Link with practically no noticeable latency (as a cloud gaming hater I’m genuinely stunned, this shit has actually gotten good), I can play stuff on Game Pass streaming (slightly less good performance since it’s actually from The Cloud and not from my own computer, but still good), and I can emulate up to about PSP and GameCube excellently well. I’ve even used this to play PSO for GameCube online running off my computer (i added Dolphin as a non-Steam game; the Android version of Dolphin on my device doesn’t seem to have the networking support i need).
It also has great build quality, the materials feel nice, it’s very ergonomic. It’s smaller than my switch lite. It has a web browser. It can run discord voice chat natively. It’ll do FM Radio(???) through a pair of earbuds. This thing is a real successor to the PSP, IMO. It rules. Get one immediately.
I feel like we'd get more mileage out of our 2+ if we were travelling more often; as it is we end up just reaching for the Deck while at home a lot of the time. I think the controls might be better on the 4 but I don't know if we could justify it.
(We do still keep thinking about a Miyoo Mini/Plus for something even more pocketable though...)
