did my semi-annual tradition of "going too hard for big pokemon go events", twice in one month (earlier this month was london specific, today was the global one)
there was a train strike today, so rather than going with original plans of heading to the peak district, i got inspired by a youtuber saying they were going to the zoo, and so found the local wildlife park that i'd never been to that was still accessible by bus, and yeah, a fairly decent place to play
had a go++ running so i wasn't looking at my phone all day...
at least, not go, i was mostly looking at the camera app, taking a whole lot of photos, and kind of wishing times had lined up better - my phone upgrade is due within the next month or two, and it really would have been nice to have something with a better telephoto lens
more incentive to come back sometime, i suppose
there is something very surreal about the lack of theming in places?
like, there's a big sign explaining why the polar bears being in a field in the middle of summer is fine
but still. polar bears. field.
camels in a different field, like you might randomly see them instead of a horse. it's fine. everything is fine
did get to see the zookeepers doing a video inspection of the red panda though
tomorrow's plan: i mostly stay in bed and try to rest up my bad leg
