also imho, she needs a way to -not- spend a windclad stock when she has them cuz sometimes you wanna save those for da mixup bay bee but you end up being forced to spend it anyway cuz shit you had to anti air dp someone and that cost a stock and now youre down a stock, have to give up oki to get it back, and that anti air didnt even do much damage anyway what the fuck
Incredibly funny coincidence: I went from Marisa to Lily and dropped Lily harder than a sack of potatoes cause she just did not feel rewarding at all even when I did have stocks, she has a lot of issues of getting stuffed on the way in, no reversal at all outside of super, the aforementioned oki or stock conundrum, and just a whole lot of needing to play neutral because you decided to get the resource you need to run your gameplan
I might go back to her some day but for now I just can't get over how hard I felt like I had to work (outside of 2HP that's a fucking god button) compared to 2MK DR or DR 2MK characters (most of the cast)

yeah like, lily HAS some good buttons but theyre either unrewarding/risky cuz they cancel into nothing or they're... 2HP, which we can't expect to carry the character on its own.
and yeah like, the system mechanics really make it VERY easy to force lily to spend/use windclad stocks in unoptimal ways so by the time she's in the mixup or combo situation she REALLY wants, she's lacking. plus even WITH stocks, she has to spend so much drive meter to get decent damage. granted, im spoiled for damage by marisa but even still lily and gief(!) are just INSANELY low damage characters if theyre not landing their command grabs.
and yeah like.... ken gets a lot of what lily "has" but for free (HK DRAGONLASH!!! its not even metered!). ken needs his cock cut off come patch time i want ken mains to suffer
I started the game trying to main lily and I could not agree more. I switched to Kimberly after a week of bashing my head against the lily wall and immediately did Soo much better and was having a lot more fun.
I have been convinced since release that command grab, at LEAST EX, should give her a wind stock, so she at least kind of can generate literally any momentum at all instead of constantly resetting to neutral
of all the grapplers she honestly might struggle the most with momentum despite, on paper, seemingly being designed to be a steamroller
