Hello everyone! I'm back again, with a very late drawing I intended to be made for Mother's Day, but was delayed by a headache that made it hard to concentrate on drawing. So anyway, a happy (belated) Mother's Day!
The Matriarchs are a central institution of Tobitgyun society, politically and culturally, and they're traditionally given the same filial piety that would be shown to biological mothers. One way this is expressed is in the "Festival of Offering Gratitude", when nearly all the Matriarchs make a pilgrimage to The Great Mirth Hall: a hall that, according to legends, was built by Krit himself. The festival provides an opportunity for Matriarchs to converse with each other and reflect on the year and for Kritzi to make offerings of money, clothing, and food.
The festival begins with a moving recitation by storytellers of a poem of thanksgiving written by Krit on behalf of his mother. Then, a communal feast of spicy beef stew and elderberry mead is served while musicians play jovial tunes. Gifts are given to the Matriarchs and everyone sleeps in inns or camps around the Great Hall for the night and leave in the morning.
