I put Irene into yet another AU, this time it's a "I made a deal with the eldritch horrors and I asked to get out of this underwater hellhole alive but they didn't have the same idea I had about how I would get out alive" and then she got her spine violently extended
Somehow she's still much happier in this AU and kills considerably less people than in her main canon, so I think I fixed her, actually
this is such a gorgeous design!! I love her, like... dead stare, and the way you textured her fins is so beautiful? it feels so pretty and elegant while the spines add (also a very pretty element) but also a more dangerous one. also the barnacles are so cool?? they imply some really cool storytelling here <3

I really wanted to consider what kind of body she would have in the cosmic horror context, while still keeping it something I have a fun time drawing! I originally planned on giving her more barnacles to form a more dramatic "armor" but decided to tone it down because the friend I work on her story with has trypophobia. Thankfully barnacles are just really fascinating by design no matter how large a surface they cover on the body they're attached to :--)
