SUBJECT:
Regarding Relative Barbarism
POLICY: Cotidiana Submission

Barbarous

The meat sizzled as it hit the pan. The Kugane Samurai stared in horror and wonder. "But it was dead for days and left hanging in the open air! You touched the animal and butchered it with your bare fingers! Is that not filthy? Is that not work for those that handle the dead things?! Barbarous!"

The Ijin culinarian simply peered incredulously over the sizzling beef belly she was browning. "You asked me to show you how Ijin Culinarian's work. So I'm showing you Takehashi-san. Part of how we work is with meat, and that means touching it, and that means carving it. You call it barbarous. I call it making dinner. You told me I had to work with both my style and that of Othard. So, here we go. I've got me a Daikon. I've got me some Miso, that dashi, and that meer-inn. I've got me some carrot. Some Porcini." she then held up a finger. "And yes- your shirotaki noodles."

The Samurai folded his arms into his sleeves. His brows creased. "So you wish to make nabe with your Eorzean ingredients and our ingredients. Barbarous." The word was muttered again, with a hint of wonderment in his tone. He leaned forward to watch with a bit more curiosity now, his legs shifting slightly. A folding fan snapped open and held before his face, lightly fanning at himself.

"Cor, Takehashi-san, you use that word a lot when dealing with anything Ijin, and then you go wide eyed and watch like a babe in the woods fascinated by aught and sundry!" She laughed and then gave the Samurai a long side eye, as she flipped that beef belly in the pan, before stirring the simmering broth and vegetables in the hot pot.

Their banter danced back and forth over the course of bells the stew was cooking. Until finally the hulking Roegadyn Samurai's belly rumbled and he could wait no longer. He sat there across from the Ijin Culinarian bowl and hashi in hand as he tucked into the nabe prepared with both ingredients of his homeland, and the Ijin's own. Slurping up a piece of the thin sliced seared beef. Deeply flavourful and seasoned. "So how is it, Takehashi-san?"

The Samurai peered from under his bangs. "Barbarous." he murmured with deep relish.
