DISPATCH FROM AMAUROT - AD INTERROGATIONEM
0951 BELLS - DIE 13 - ASTRAL MOON 5:

Regarding Jokes
POLICY: Quaestiones Molitae
That's, actually a really good question, and the more I think about it, I have to say it's likely a pun from a movie I saw ages ago. I do love my period dramas, and well. There are plenty from Grand Budapest Hotel. That is a favourite movie, but, no, this one comes from Master and Commander. It's a scene in the officers mess, and there are weevils in the crumbs of the food. The Captain looks to the naturalist they have on board, and he looks him dead in the eye.
I am paraphrasing from memory here:
The Captain gestures at the two weevils. "Doctor, do you see those two weevils?"
The doctor eyes the Captain "I do."
The Captain, utterly serious. "Which do you choose?"
The doctor is bloody annoyed. "Neither, they're the same, same species of insect, same variety."
The Captain "But say you had to choose."
The Doctor "Then the one on the right, it's got considerable length and breadth on it's counterpart."
The Captain goes grave. "There I have you! I have you! Don't you know that in the service you must always choose..."
There is a moment.
The Captain finishing "... the lesser of two weevils?"
