Question of the Day!
It's karaoke night and your WoL/OC is pushed onto the stage! What in-game song are they singing? (And what real world song would they belt out if given the chance?)

DISPATCH FROM AMAUROT - AD INTERROGATIONEM
0950 BELLS - DIE 27 - ASTRAL MOON 5:
SUBJECT:
Regarding Musical Inclinations
POLICY: Quaestio Diei
For an in-game song, honestly I would have to say To The Edge. The song is rather grand. It builds on one of my absolute favourite songs, Mortal Instants and it just... it's so bloody good.
To The Edge
All our splendour bathed black in silenceOur surrender a sombre reverie
Slowly drifting down into twilight
Left to sifting through faded memories
Know our places, for worth is wordless
Evanescent, this writing on the wall
Brother stay this descent to madness
Come and save us. Catch us before we fall
Like broken angels, wingless, cast from heavens' gates
(Our slumb'ring demons awake)
We only fly when falling, falling far from grace
(Hell take us, heaven can wait)
Our lives a message in a bottle cast to sea
(Disgrace untold and unseen)
Quick to their ends, our candles burn until we're free
In monochrome melodies
Our tears are painted in red
(Bleeding to the edge)
Deep inside we're nothing more
Than scions and sinners
In the rain
Do light and darkness fade
Yes, time circles endlessly
The hands of fate trained ahead
(Pointing to the edge)
All things change, drawn to the flame
To rise from the ashes.
To begin
We first must see the end
Rock of ages, we cast the first stone
In our cages, we know not what we do
Indecision here at the crossroads
Recognition, tomorrow's come too soon
Follow blindly like lambs to slaughter
At the mercy of those who ply the sword
As our song wends dead underwater
We're forgotten for now and evermore
Without a compass wand'ring lost in lies of faith
(Faith slowly wasting away)
Only alive in fighting Death's amber embrace
(Our hearts beat loud, unafraid)
On Hands and knees we pray to gods we've never seen
(Come shadow, come follow me)
The final hour upon us, no more time to breathe
In monochrome melodies
Our tears are painted in red
(Bleeding to the edge)
Deep inside we're nothing more
Than scions and sinners
In the rain
Do light and darkness fade
Yes, time circles endlessly
The hands of fate trained ahead
(Pointing to the edge)
All things change, drawn to the flame
To rise from the ashes.
To begin
We first must see the end
As to what real world song I'd belt out? That really does depend on mood an awful lot, but in this moment, it would likely be Fantasy by Aviators. It also can kind of be related to the same themes as To The Edge, with an entirely different sort of beat, metre, and tone to the song.
Fantasy
It's been so longWithout a ray of hope in sight
I'm feeling lost
Under these broken neon lights
Erase all the pain
Remember the strife makes us stronger
When hard times get longer
And I, a bird in a cage
Will sing you a beautiful tune
In the face of our doom (in my)
Fantasy
How did it ever get away from me
South beach in summer on the rising sea
I left you in a dream
Tragedy
We are the children of calamity
Shards of the picture we were meant to be
A broken fantasy
A fading thought
A distance closer than it seems
Do you remember?
Our perfect world
Captured in my wildest dreams
In disaster
I'm barely alive
I'm fighting to break free and see you again
I know we'll survive
And maybe I'll meet you at the end (somewhere in a)
Fantasy
How did it ever get away from me
South beach in summer on the rising sea
I left you in a dream
Tragedy
We are the children of calamity
Shards of the picture we were meant to be
A broken fantasy
It's a walk through the mind
Back in far better times
In a different reality
Kept your hope in a jar
So you packed up the car
To escape this tragedy
But we lost the vision
And I can't find myself anymore
A lonely prison
Locked with dreams of us before
Fantasy
How did it ever get away from me
South beach in summer on the rising sea
I left you in a dream
Tragedy
We are the children of calamity
Shards of the picture we were meant to be
A broken fantasy
It... very much captures the feeling of being a shard of Igeyorhm, at least, to me it does. All the feelings bottled up inside, that are hidden behind the smiles, the bon vivance, and the flirtations. It's a beautiful song, and the synthwave pop tune, the happiness of the music contra-posing the lyrics- it fits. Ever so much.
