making my home on PC for gaming has become an issue over time, transitioning into physical releases. if i want to grab a copy of anything, it's for either a console by a company i heavily dislike (Switch) or wildly expensive consoles i don't own nor care for (The Rest). physicals for PC are a novelty at best in 2024 and im not touching businesses like Limited Run with a ten-foot pole.

the less reliant on storefronts, the better. i have my praise for services like GOG and piracy's the best bet we have but yknow, i miss having no digital strings attached.

The only thing that has me still buying multi-platform games occasionally on anything other than PC is the lack of physical releases on PC. If the Steam Deck, MacBook, and my gaming PC had a little cartridge slot accessory I could just put a game into, I would be almost exclusively gaming on computers.

i miss seeing all the rad packaging PC physicals got too. big bulky boxes with sleeves, embossed covers and all of them unique in some way. everybody did their releases a little differently.

ive lost several of mine over the years but i still have my battlechest version of diablo 2. it has a fold-out cover! bring that back!
