i think alot of what FFXIII's doing is really cool. i think the Paradigm system's macro approach to party management is fascinating. i think the story's character-driven nature and limited scope is a refreshing change of pace.
i can also completely understand why people HATED FFXIII at launch oh my god sdlkfj. like, we're throwing out FF staples left right and centre here; little worldbuilding exposition, totally hands-off party control, cutscene after cutscene after cutscene. as a spinoff, yknow on a contemporary handheld, i could see FFXIII garnering a fanbase but as the next-gen mainline entry? gutsy shit and i kinda like it.
most of it. Sazh is cool but i don't care for anybody yet and i've no idea what's... happening...
edit: the best way i can describe this is it's like FF took notice of the growing third-person action titles coming out around the time. whether that sounds interesting or terrifying is up to you.
