yeah ok no, the mouselook in this nightdive version of doom is very, very off. it seems to judder between points of movement rather than full 360 degree turning, like there's a resistance of sorts. it's drastically affecting my play. im not a programmer of course but it almost feels like Doom's fighting whatever kex engine version it's been contained in, nothing quite feels right, like an imitation.

i always look at these rereleases from the perspective of a new player, since they're the obvious target demographic. it's difficult in this case sure, since ive beaten Doom more times than ive taken a shit, but idk, the more i toy with this, the more uncertain i am that it's a solid recommendation over any community sourceport. hell, the Nerve remasters (by now) were more accurate than this.

that's also the uncomfortable aspect, the loss of Doom's storied fanwork and dozens of projects that've captured Doom perfectly over the years. im less enthused by seeing bethesda's sanitized content delivery systems implemented here; im fully aware of other, better, non-corporate options but a new player wouldn't be. that's the potential point, insidious as it is.

i'll let it sit for longer.
