i know it's a bit old hat to bring up older sonic games as a series standard but goddamn is Generations still so much fun, even without mods. it's the rare anniversary celebration title that caters to veteran fans and newcomers alike, as a smorgasbord of sonic references all tied together with, frankly, the best Boost gameplay to date (Frontiers being the closest second imo). i can blast through a stage today with a stupid grin just like i did over a decade ago.
the remaster's got huge shoes to fill. im confident in the Shadow side but this will be the first instance of a Modern Sonic game getting sort-of replaced digitally. there's no Wii exclusivity breakage to hide behind like Colours Ultimate, we've got receipts for comparison lsdjf.
