i really shouldn'tve visited the nightdive doom steam discussions it's some rancid shit.

you'd think bethesda's playerbase would know a thing or two about the effort mods take and the scummy practices this company has tried to implement in the past but nope, we love the work, not the people. it's gone from "hey just be nice to doom modders" to "well people steal all the time online anyway so why bother?" idk man, some people rob houses.

i can't touch this fucking port. i feel bad even getting through the new expansion, should've dropped the thing. this is a side of Gamerdom i'd do anything to keep out of this scene.

in reply to @DogLadyHeather's post:

TL;DR: the new doom port allows players to upload any single doom wad under their name and remove credit. the place is a shitstorm of people sticking anything up there, from famous wads to infamously racist ones to ones that don't even function properly. we don't know who allowed it (ND's previous remasters didn't do this) but ND's keeping the system and only relying on basic reports to remove them. this, as you can imagine, is a cork trying to fix a burst dam.

and naturally, shithead gamers are fully in support of uncredited/horrifically bigoted work being uploaded because being nice means you're, idk woke or something.

oh motherfucker, that's not good.

Well, it sounds like rather than being by design it's because they don't want to pay moderators, as it always is with software companies. So of course it becomes a cesspool.
