this is a direction i noticed with FFXV, how it greatly resembled several major western releases at the time. that one had Ubisoft's influence all over its wide-open sandbox design and it's interesting to see the series continue embracing this influence. game's darker, grittier, filled with browns and greys and political intrigue. the latter's nothing new if you're a FFXII stan like me but boy, there's some note-taking here. someone watched a season or two of Game Of Thrones.
this isn't an inherently bad idea. hell, im a Sonic and Resident Evil fan, japanese media catering to popular western tropes is half my gaming tastes. im more curious if FFXVI's a successful attempt, since i uh, wasn't a fan of FFXV's empty boredom at all.
like christ, going from FFX to this is hilarious.
