i think my brain just cannot comprehend ATB combat. it's like playing chess with a timer ticking down on all the pieces while your opponent gets to move of their own accord. it's neither the satisfying planning of turn-based nor the instant reaction and gratification of an action-RPG system. im blanking on the idea here, im guessing it's to emphasize the urgency of your decisions but im effectively doing the same thing, just faster. not very fun.

obviously it's my issue, people seem to love this style. not for HeatherDog sldjf, im locking in that Wait option like my life depends on it.

edit: i think it's the fluidity? like how uncertain it all feels? there's no governing ruleset, everybody's going off at random times and it's the strategic equivalent of herding cats to regain some semblance of cohesion.
