in researching the COD games (and cleaning out Veteran runs), it's been odd finding out that the most uniquely written entry - BO3- is also widely considered incomprehensible garbage by the playerbase. the only one to do anything other than Shoot The Baddies and nobody understood it kdjfhf.
a real shame too, since BO3 is full psychological horror, or at least as far as COD will go. it unfortunately still uses a very shallow terrorist plot as a backdrop because What Else, but things get Silent Hilly quite fast. you shoot giant beating hearts in the final level, is what im getting at.
there's a really easy film comparison to make but the problem is that doing so ruins the twist. just in case:
it's Jacob's Ladder. it's the exact same setup and twist as Jacob's Ladder, in videogame form, across the entire campaign.
im not kidding, it's the most interesting writing COD ever tried and we'll never see it again. they got too creative for once lmao.
