im learning so much about where all these familiar videogame characters took inspiration from, going through classic films. Daxter is a significantly more annoying Timon, Pinstripe from Crash Bandicoot is a very unsubtle ripoff from Roger Rabbit and every single canadian stereotype i've ever seen came from Fargo.

Fargo's pretty good, didn't love it on the same level as its hype but still a fun subversive noir.

ok, well, um, so, just learned that not only is fargo located in north dakota, not canada, but it's also, as it turns out, interestingly, A Real Place. well. fascinating that. what a fun bit of trivia for quiz night. i don't know this fucking country.

it's good! it's a fine film! great acting! i think i was supposed to get more out of the juxtaposition of its central crime and the black comedy quirk of its setting and characters but it didn't do much for me. probably a case of Fargo's influence on later films im already familiar with like In Bruges; this kind of off-beat treatment's far from new today.
