HEALTH - Tears

the Max Payne 3 OST is such a funny one because the hype goes so hard for Tears and then it's like "oh yeah there's, other tracks."

it is a fucking banger though. there's a reason everybody remembers the airport shootout, whole level is some magnificent audiovisual storytelling. i always heard that abrasive repetition as max's lifelong headache being violently concluded; that siren-like voice pulling him through the last fight and lyrically laying it all to rest.

surprisingly affecting moment for a game where you slow-mo shoot 50 baddies every five seconds while you've likely forgotten half the story.

HEALTH was an inspired choice, i just wish the rest of the OST reflected this singles-off-the-album approach. the bulk of the tracklist consists of middling ambient attempts tinged with a bit of their trademark noise. there's a couple of more memorable songs (The Girl and Dead aren't bad) but it all still ends up too indistinct as either an album experience or soundtrack.

do love HEALTH's albums though, Rat Wars kicked.

Ed Harrison - Tin Soldiers (the best bit) (can't post the whole thing on cohost sldfkj)

both sides are PWYW on bandcamp, highly recommend dropping a few bucks though as this OST has stuck with me for so, so long.
