In February, I learned that my previous company lost almost every contract in the Kansai region, and they wouldn’t have a position for me in the next school year.
It was at this time I started applying for other jobs in education and in other fields as well. I just assumed that I’d probably get another teaching job because I felt that my Japanese ability wasn’t quite at the level I needed it to be.
But to my surprise, I was able to score a job in game localization which was my dream since moving to japan and the sole reason I worked so hard on my studies.
I took this photo on my last day in the public schools, not knowing that I’d probably never step into a classroom ever again.
My ninth grade students who I had taught through their junior high school years had graduated the week before, advancing into the next stage of their lives and leaving behind an empty classroom.
