I hate not having Answers or Solutions too things. I have a lot of my sense of self wrapped up in being the problem fixer guy that when I can't do it, even collaboratively, I Feel Bad
our classroom is getting out of hand, and a lot of the resource students are too. a small part of it is this cohort is post-covid-school, so a lot didn't have the same school experience that like, previous generations did, and therefore this gen is a little ""Bad"". but I don't think it's as bad as people seem to think. I think it's just these are preteens/early teens and it's almost Christmas, that's all.
but that said it doesn't negate that there is Behaviors happening. and not every kid is responsive to radical gentle education (take lots of breaks and self regulate and stuff). like they use it to ditch classes and vandalize the bathrooms etc. and I really don't know what the solution is because my suggestion of ways to add accountability to the students has kind of been ignored or no one wants to implement it or follow it. the existing policy of "if you leave the classroom for any reason, sign in and out" isn't working bc kids just straight up don't Doo it. I suggested journal logs that record what each student did in class that day, but that hasn't happened. idk what to try next.
