I invite everyone to join me in my Thursday ritual: every Thursday you cook a nice meal yourself, ideally something that takes a bit of effort but with grace for ability and resources, and eat it while watching the newest dungeon meshi episode (optional, legally acquired or otherwise). while cooking (and eating), reflect on the process, on the ingredients, what you think each ingredient is bringing to the meal. you can cook collaboratively if that's your thing. I've started journaling about my recipes I make and my thoughts on them.
I've been doing this a little over a month now and I can already feel myself becoming a more mindful eater and a better chef. highly recommend
anything I post about it going forward I'll tag "#thursday night dungeon dinner" and you're also welcome to use that tag yourself!
tonights dinner under the cut

chickpeas with zucchini and apricot and lemon cream sauce over couscous :9 tasty
I don't cook with dried fruit a lot so this was fun! I don't usually like dried fruit even though I try it all the time, but cooking with it is fun
Thinking about some of the intuitive eating work ive been doing in therapy. I had a session today. I've been working on using outside cues to look inside, if that makes sense. Funnily enough, seeing other people eating doesn't usually cue me to determine if I'm hungry or not, so I've been intentionally doing it lately. Thursday nights are routine for me at this point so I always make dinner even if I'm not certain I'm hungry or not, I just make a nice meal and watch dunmesh.
I was also thinking about spices. I think I'll order the new spice rack I want so I can remake my spice array this weekend. I want to get better at making my own spice blends so I can understand the flavors better than just following recipes and trusting them. I'm already getting a bit better at it, I made tumeric and garlic spiced rice the other day without a recipe and it came out very good.
