problem: my door does not efficiently shut all the way anymore
why is this a problem?: my frog is in a triage tank and is more vulnerable to Cat Behaviors than she is in her usual tank. the door needs to stay shut
possible solution: make a maintenance report
why this won't work: it's a weekend, and I work during the same times maintenance does. I can't get them to fix the door until April at the soonest probably.
possible solution: take the door off it's hinges, clean and relubricate them myself, replace the strike plate again (which is how I fixed this problem originally)
why that won't work: time consuming (it's 11pm on a work night) and involves leaving my door open for an extended period while I work on it.
possible solution: duct tape the door shut
why that won't work: surprisingly I don't own any duct tape, or other tape that isn't washi or scotch
possible solution: screw a belt to my door
why that worked: took 5 minutes, is very strong and cat proof, can be locked from the outside (I use a rubber doorstep to lock it from the inside)
possible complication: Zach can lock me inside my room if he really wanted to and I'd have to move a nightstand to get out the other door :/ luckily he is not a meanie
