woo just finished all the training i need to get my General Paraeducator Certificate! this doesn't particularly mean much, i personally think you should HAVE to have this certificate to be a para in the first place, but I did it! once my course confirmation comes through (which says it should take 7 business days) i can give the state $80 to confirm my application (which probably will take a million years). and i get $1.25/hr raise for it which isn't much but it's something.
I would start taking classes towards my advanced para cert (which comes with an emergency substitute teacher cert and training credentials), but our union hasn't bargained for a pay raise for paras who have their advanced cert, so I'm going to hold off until after next year maybe to go for that, since there's not incentive for me to get that certification yet.
