friendship ended with soap and elbow grease, barkeepers friend is new best friend

my instapot gets grubby quick, since generally it gets used as an air fryer and I just swap the liner1 at the bottom out until it needs an actual cleaning (2-3 air fry cycles not like. weeks of grime). and then it's mostly grease based burnt on shit and it's been annoying to try and get 100% clean again. but since the pot is stainless steel, I got BF and whoa doggies it's nice. nothin scratched up, but it took the grit right off the sucker and made it sparkle. now I'm more likely to use it for things I worry would make it too dirty to clean! also a paper towel with some BF on it cleaned the metal around the air fryer coils too! just keep it off the silicone seals on the pressure lid for sure if you plan to replicate

  1. coffee filters. not even basket ones I just cut 2 cone filters open and put them on the bottom. sucks up the grease, doesn't burn, makes it so easy to clean. same filters I use for pour-over and my coffee maker so I don't have to buy anything special. I've looked into a silicone one to be a little more sustainable but my filters are already bamboo and also silicone just makes something else to clean
