if you're ever thinking about visiting Olympia, I can honestly say the last weekend in April is 10/10 the perfect time to visit. I visited at this time in 2017 and fell in love with the city. Arts Walk happens twice a year (spring and fall) but the Spring one has the procession of the species so it's much cooler. Spring Arts Walk is an earth day celebration the city holds every year (it got slimmed down during lockdown but is back and bustling now), and the two processions (a lantern one Friday night and a costumed one Saturday evening) are celebrations of all the plants and animals earth has to hold. People get in groups based on their costumes of choice and parade around downtown! it's massive amounts of fun and is so exhilarating to watch a community come together over something that isn't patriotism or capitalism. Then, there's also tons of street performers and booths set up for local artists to display their wares. And every business downtown seems to have some event going on inside, like poetry readings, drag shows, live music, or workshops. It's a delight. ABSOLUTELY something you should witness at least once
