you might know him from son lux, who scored everything everywhere all at once, i delved into my bandcamp purchases earlier today and rediscovered rafiq bhatia & his 2018 album breaking english
if i'm gonna be honest i totally don't remember why i bought this album however many years ago, but the striking album art has a lot to do with it. either way, i revisited it this morning & was suddenly time shifted back into when i first heard it & it's just, such a tremendously detailed & intimate sound. i love all the little textural details throughout, especially in the interludes & my favorite track 'hoods up'.
it also got me to zoom over to son lux themselves since i'd not given a lot of attention to their back catalog after eeaao. if you enjoy the sounds of breaking english, their 3-part mega album from 2020 tomorrows is extremely good & has some of the coolest vocal processing throughout. i really love their style(s) a lot.
