*Yeah, a friend asked me for more info on her, and i realized there was a lot about her I had solely in my head. Sooooo here;s a whole heaping helping of Character Stuff."
Amemori Sakura.
Born AMAB, Born into a wealthy japanese family. Big wealthy. Amemori Finance has its hands in a lot of pies.
From birth was given strict expectations of inheriting the company from their father, Amemori Daichi.
They were also given strict expectations on how to behave. Obedience, discipline, good grades, and absolutely maintaining gender norms.
One respit from their harsh and controlling upbringing was being allowed to watch superhero shows in their liesure time, the TV being a low maintenence 'baby-sitter' and that choice of programming being a 'suitably masculine' interest; although Daichi had a low view of the real-world superheroes operating at the time.
And since they were of wealth, they had access to a huge backlog of classic material, Kamen Rider being the top of their favorites.
The years went on, and at around age eleven, the morphic waves hit. They and their family became insect demi-morphs (morphs with mostly human appearing features, like a cat-girl), but their physical gender did not change yet, still understanding so little of their own inner desires.
But as time went on and puberty struck them, niggling aspects of their identity became harder to ignore, and their home life became increasingly intolerable. Clashes between them and their father were becoming more frequent, and more extreme.
In their later teens, they found an out via the internet, speaking in chat rooms and social media to those who could help them understand what they were feeling and why.
This eventually lead them to Quinn.
She was a pillar of emotional guidance and support to the questioning trans girl, and helped her accept very important parts of herself.
Later on, Quinn revealed she was a member of the Korps, and helped dispel the shocked trans-girl's fears about the organization.
A few years later, she had become confident in their identity, and disgusted with her father's callous nature to utterly reject the future planned for her. And with Quinn's (mysteriously effective) help, cashed out a portion of their personal holdings, took what they could and got out of her family and out of her country, emigrating to the US. As she struck out to forge her own path, she settled on ehr new name, taking it from one of her favorite female kamen riders. Sakura.
She declined joining the Korps, outwardly saying she wasn't sure she could associate with something so big and shady, but subconsciously avoiding it out of fear of not being able to be of any use, or getting in over her head.
Through all of this, she had realized Quinn had been more of a parent to her than her biological family ever had, and became happily accepted as Quinn's second adopted daughter (the first being Raina) (edited) [11:19 PM] Quinn was there to greet her as she touched down, and while she helped get her on her feet, Quinn warned her Texas was a fairly hostile state for morphic individuals. She pointed her towards a particularly Morph-Friendly city on the east coast, one that she happened to know the Korps was establishing a prominent research base.
Vinburg, Virginia.
She got by on the savings she had brought with her, living very humbly and supplementing her funds with temp-jobs. However, as freeing as liberating as breaking free to live on her own was, and as good as Quinn's initial guidance was, she found herself overwhelmed far more than she expected. Even in a morphic friendly town, the world was a scary place, and after that intial glorious burst of indignation and self respect in leaving her family, she found herself feeling nervous, withdrawn, vulnerable.
She would hide herself under big coats and scarfs, still awkward about her mostly pre-transition body.
She had two comforts. The freedom to occasionally treat herself to genuine feminine things, like a bright pink hello kitty bag. The other was that Vinburg was the superhero capital of the US, and even as scary as actual super-fights could bem seeing real superheroes in action on the local news was exciting, and filled her heart with a longing to be that secure and capable. And then one night, she was assaulted by a gang of anti-morphic thugs.
Before they could harm her though, they were stopped. By a newly instated Professional Solo Hero, freshly assigned to Vinburg City from the BMO Proton. He quickly subdued the attackers, and even used his powers to (sloppily) repair a broken metal strap-linking-piece on her Hello Kitty bag. Overwhelmed, starstruck, and socially anxious, she ran from the young hero without a word.
But as she made her way home, processing that scene in her head over and over, she found herself in front of a Korps RCG boutique. Seeing the magenta lights in the window, she had a suden ephiphany. A realization of what she wanted out of life.
What she wanted to become.
Someone strong, someone able to protect the innocent and the scared like that hero had done for her.
Someone like the heroes she had grown up idolizing.
She would become the World's Greatest Superhero.
She walked in and demanded a chance to joint he Korps. Dropping Quinn's name helped get her through the door and into Site-003 proper, when she'd likely get placed in a very very very low-stakes internship program at first glance at her.
She immediately gravitated towards the high-risk operation agent program, and started a long road of intense training and personal improvement to become suitable for the task.
Feeling the limits of her normal morphic flesh, she aggressively volunteered for Bionic augmentation. Despite initial hesitance to onboard her so quickly, every step of the way she surprised her superiors with ehr dedication, and the swiftness she met the goals placed in front of her. She continued to train, to push herself, to test more extreme cybernetic enhancements, all towards the goal of meeting the ideal in her head.
Within a year, she was a capable fighter and a high-value interception, assault and defense agent of the Korps. She had also gained a deep appreciation for the Korps ideals, truly believing they were the best hope the world had.
Needless to say, her mother was very proud.
During her training, she had bonded with two other bug demi-morphs in the program. Kaori, an uplifted mantis with a penchant for deadly weaponry, and TIna, an amazonian beetle borg.
Their bond deepened as they became a tightly knit squad, and they eventually felt comfortable calling eachother sister.
Quinn, ever vigilant for more children to adopt, was ecstatic. The trio continued to improve their abilities, and were regularly sent out on high-risk operations, taking down crime-lords, anti-morphic bio weapon labs, and other major threats to the innocent people of the world.
She also had a brief fling with Vinburg heav-hitter, Volta. (belonging to @syntax-takes
She and her sisters eventually got shipped out for major international ops, culminating in a a series of strikes against a huge morphic-trafficking organization. Towards the end of it, Sakura began feeling pulled to re-focus on her core goal, of being a superhero. She felt sh eneeded to return to Vinburg, and act specifically in the defense of her fellow agents, and the innocent people of the city. In her second week of being back on american soil, she was head of security on a korps convoy bringing in vital scientific equipment to site 003, when a military backed Superhero named Dead-Aim, under the cover of a bridge-building gesture with the local BMO, took it upon himself to assault them. The hero he had been partnered with fought back, of course, but Dead aim got the upper hand on him.
And that's when Agent Hopper was able to pay Proton back for the first time.
