I feel like one thing in media I find weird is like... you know that whole thing with the Joker in Batman? Like the whole entire "I can't kill or it makes me just as bad" thing? Like... you know, to an extent I get it, you don't want your character to be one that consistently just loves killing. I do get that, at the same time though I don't get why that idea is always pushed when it comes to villains who are like... incredibly mass murderers? Or people who have tried to commit mass genocide? Why is that always used with the absolute worst examples?
Like... Steven Universe hatred is generally really bad and has some of the worst "critique" I've seen. At the same time one thing I've always agreed with is that like... man the diamonds whole thing sucked. Like..... I get it, you don't want the morally pacifistic character to kill, especially when you technically make the enemies related...... at the same time though... come on. Them pretty much getting a slap on the wrist when doing screwed up stuff like this? Really?
I mean with batman, specifically, it's honestly pretty simple. He (in most cases, I know he's been written a lot of different ways lets not get pedantic) has a strict code against killing in no small part because he knows how easy it would be for HIM to slide into killing every villain he deemed enough of a threat if he goes over that line.
And like I'm not gonna complain in this day and age that a fictional vigilante has a strict policy of Non-lethal methods.
