that feel when u cant leave circle
all because a friend and i liked a Guilty Gear song, i made a silly drawing of us (as bedman? & delilah) plus a frivolous nes cover... that took me half of july and august...! (sorry i take so long to post)
basic Famistudio video export: https://youtu.be/ToW1NOgSMGc
I'm not a musician by trade, so i learned a lot with this arrangement: about some genres and subgenres (i think this qualifies as prog metal), drums (it was surprisingly cool and useful to learn why a snare drum is called that!), and various NES/Famicom interpretations of them (particularly the Follin bros'; not that i can match them at all, but copying some of their techniques let me avoid using DPCM drums).
On top of that, i tried my best not to stick too literal to original song due to how hard it is to adapt, so you'll notice some goofy liberties i took styled after other NES-esque games.
I also cheated just a little, I used Audacity to edit in some panning on the noise channel for the bed's "activation sound". This isn't present in the current video render though.
This was also my first try with famistudio. it's finicky to click stuff in it sometimes and the way instruments and patterns work can be jank, so i'm not if i prefer it over famitracker...?
and the video export is appreciated but i'd definitely prefer to make something fancier public on yt. i might put that work in later
I was also caught off guard by the incompatibility with famitracker... if i make the famistudio file available later, maybe i'll throw in an ftm file made out of the nsf export, just so it's possible to visualize it in famitracker at all
(also, i only found out there was already an 8bit arrange (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJKIjiw3O_w) after i'd already started mine, and i only found an upload of the song with the vocals edited out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmNsvra4QOQ) after i'd already finished)
