In the depths of a haunted house, a buffoon playing alchemist for frivolous purposes arrogantly follows instructions on how not to create a homunculus, using the spent byproduct of a Philosopher's Stone. From his cauldron spawns and spills his would-be minion: an animated blue slime that struggles to shape itself into a humanoid... But as one might imagine, it did not cross his mind that it could ever be freed from his control.
Berry
Berry's life, however, has seemingly only gotten rougher since gaining self-awareness. With their spirit permanently bound to an indestructible gem that both embodies and accelerates the universe's evergrowing entropy, matter disintegrates to their touch, waves turn to noise in their wake, and as their mere presence unwillingly crumbles the world around them, and the world curses and scars them for it, they can only lament the fact that they will likely live to watch the universe end.
Their only solace is Cherry, the only one to show them love, but is she enough? Well, something compels Berry to not only cling to life, but defend it from harm rather than let it all turn to ash... Indeed, the fate of life itself may very well hinge on the answers they find to unanswerable questions: How long can they keep this up, and why should they? What makes life worth living at all?...
