Thanks to Boxman for this recommendation. It'll be something I use and really rely on every day so it's very appreciated that you told me about this app.

For anyone else stranded by the closure of Google Podcasts, AntennaPod is a very good new home. It's open source and completely ad and account free. It has a ton of UI customization options that all make sense and make picking up new epsidoes or queuing up old ones very easy. You can set custom intro skip times for shows with long intros. You can reorder your lists by duration and it'll even tell you the total duration of your playlist, which I really like. Has full RSS feed support, which is Spotify completely lacks.

I can only speak for Android, but it works great except the app will sometimes close out after you pause it and you have to unlock your phone to resume. Only happens if you pause from the screen while locked, but if you pause/resume from something like a bluetooth headset, it works fine. It's a known bug the devs are working on, but this is apparently a volunteer project.

Anyway, that's my recommendation for a podcast only mobile app. Thanks again, Boxman.

Ok, I guess I need a good podcast app replacement, since Google Podcasts is going away in April. Anyone have anything good they use that they recommend?

I just want a podcast specific app, and not a music/podcast app because in my experience most of those are loaded with ads and/or cluttered with music recommendations I do not want to battle my way through when I'm listening to something. Just a damn thing that plays podcasts. Google recommended switching to YouTube music which is abysmal.

Ideally it'll let me sort episodes of subscriptions, it won't autoplay the next episode in queue, and it needs to support RSS for private subscriptions from stuff like Patreon.
