Chocolatier: Tony’s Chocolonely
Flavor: Dark Chocolate Candy Cane 51%
What I Paid: $6.49

Well, I feel compelled to review one more holiday chocolate before Christmas, so let's do this thing! Today I got a 51% dark chocolate bar with chunks of candy cane in it. It comes from fair trade chocolatier Tony's Chocolonely, and is one of their two seasonal holiday flavors this year. Let's try it out!

I first want to mention that all the peppermint flavor in this bar comes from the candy cane bits. There doesn't seem to be any peppermint flavor in the chocolate itself, for better or worse. Speaking of said chocolate, it's pretty good! It's on the sweet side but still has a nice bitter kick of cocoa flavor and just a tiny bit of fruitiness. That said, my favorite part of this bar might actually be the candy cane! The candy cane chunks mixed into this bar are large in size, and they have a nice punch of peppermint flavor that is paired with an equally strong hit of vanilla. They also have a fun rock-candy like texture that is super satisfying to crunch on. The ratio of candy cane to chocolate is this bar is perfect: you get a nice refreshing peppermint tingle from the candy, but the chocolate is strong enough to stand up and hold its own.

Overall, I like this bar! It's a tasty and fun Christmas treat that is large enough to share and has a reasonable price tag. On top of that, the packaging has pretty holiday theme and the bar is imprinted with a Christmas tree to make it extra festive. It gets a thumbs up from me!
