if you want to have a successful community rather than just a corporate website where all the worst parts of fb/tumblr get reproduced, you have to be prepared to have opinionated moderation. you have to be prepared to say shit like "this doesn't break the letter of the terms of service but it's obviously something that will be detrimental to the community" and ban people who are instigating shit rather than the people they're antagonizing into a response
