Forums have not been a first-class posting medium for at least a decade.

Everyone has forgotten the perils of image leeching, the action of embedding image URLs from random websites in a post. The young never learned. We who remember must educate them now. Use a reliable image host, ideally cohost itself!

YOU MUST NOT LEECH IMAGES!

Leeching images places your post at the mercy of an external website! In the best case failure mode, the images in your post will be broken and lost when the external site goes down!

In the worst case, a vindictive webmaster replaces your pictures with Goatse or worse!

Don't let this happen to you! Rehost your images!

we will be adding the ability to more easily host mid-post images on cohost BUT it will be a bit!

don’t leech! save in drafts!

#or do what i’ve been doing and use discord #(don’t do that)

I would also like to put out a quick reminder that TinyPic reuses image URL's of images that get purged and it made many really old screenshot lets plays on SA extremely funny.

Update: I have learned TinyPic shut down in 2019. But this was very funny you have to trust me on this one guys.

haha okay i'm glad you are outright inviting people to do this because i saw the "phantom-upload an image to cohost" as pretty poor form but assumed you would address it if you felt the same. and this is at least a step better than uh, what is it, "do an upload and then delete the post and don't worry the image is still there" which is uhh uhhhh uhhhhhhhhhhhh

yeah the latter is taking advantage of a huh with our attachment purging, reusing a draft is Allowed and won’t break in the future but we’ll also add a real system soon

I know I saw a few linked in the Tech Support Fort way back in the day as an argument to never use tinypic, but that thread has a tendency to get restarted as the OP stops showing up to keep it up to date so I have no idea what they were at this point.

bad news, looks like TinyPic shut down completely in 2019 so even if I find one all the images will be broken anyway.
