so i watched Lars von Trier's second film, 1987's Epidemic and i literally have no idea if lars just played a really good practical joke on me in that movie. if someone could tell me if it's supposed to be a comedy or not, i'd love to know

Epidemic is... It's weird. It's not good, it's not supposed to be a comedy, but von Trier has a weird sarcastic nature to his direction that everything has a sense of "is this supposed to be serious?" and the answer is distressingly often "yes".
the final act with the producer literally felt like "is this entire movie a bit, did you actually only have twelve pages of script"
