in reply to @EarthShaker's post:

I find Cohost has the same problem as Pillowfort. Some treat it like a blog, some treat it like LiveJournal, some treat it like Tumblr, some treat it like Instagram, some treat it like twitter, etc.

The problem isn't that they do what other platforms do. Mastodon is a Twitter clone. Its use is clear from the get go and it doesn't deviate.

PF & CH aren't focused like that "No corporate bullshit" is good but if someone shows up doing 'Instagram' and another person does 'Tumblr' they're not going to connect because they're navigating the platform with different expectations and habits.

If people are leaving due to a lack of interaction I say it's because how to do so isn't clear and simple

I think a lot of it is part of the growing pains of a website that is still in its very early stages and developing it's OWN character beyond "css crimes" though the crimes are definitely funny.

But to show up, post a few times, and then sourly depart because nothing was doing numbers or whatever as if ones follower base followed them here seems kind of... there's expectations and there's HIGH expectations, you know?

I find here people will SPEAK to me, and that is a rarity on Twitter, even though by the numbers I should be a lot more visible there. Here a stranger will see my words and read them, and react to me thoughtfully - YOU have done that! That's not something I get elsewhere.
