I was on an expedition to climb some mountain. We had climbed to a cliff edge, which we would have to climb down, before continuing to ascend higher up the main body of the peak. But there was an avalanche.
We chopped a tree till it was teetering on the brink, and as the snow rushed towards us we chained ourselves together in a line and lashed the first of us to the tree. Then we pushed it off just as the wave of snow hit the cliff and surged upwards (like an ocean wave hitting a wall? Does snow do that?). Then we rode the tree down as snow surged and roared past all around us, till everything stilled and we could resume hiking.
It was fucking cool!! It was scary and intense but the "We made it!" relief was incredible. Neat!!!
