My partner gave me a mortar and pestle for my birthday (in just a few days!). The paper it came with says it needs to be cleaned (yes of course) and... Seasoned?? Before use. No like a cast iron, but.. literally seasoned as in 'grind up a bunch of rice salt pepper and cumin '. Huh! Okay! I wonder why?
First thing I want to grind is some star anise I got a while back.
