I need to be better about eating a morning meal so Im not super hungry at lunch, whereupon I eat a too-large meal and crash out. But the typical American breakfast meals are tiresome. I only like eggs sometimes in specific ways, and I don't just want some arrangement of potatoes and bacon or sausage, cereal, or pancakes.

Any ideas?

I guess I could make shakshouka (which is one of the few ways I can do eggs). Or I could make a sandwich... I guess I could make rice and beans...

What do people eat for breakfast that's not American Traditional Breakfast?

For breakfast really you just want to stack in protein. Do you like grilled cheese? go for it. Try a waffle topped with feta and honey. Overnight oats made with equal parts Greek yogurt and steel cut oats refrigerated overnight topped with blueberries and honey to taste. Try a deli sandwich. For breakfast, i like turkey with Swiss and pepper jam. Anything goes as long as you can get the protein you need for the day. Sometimes, even just a protein bar and a glass of milk. That's doubling up on whey protein but sometimes you just gotta

Speaking outside of US:

  • Sammich, but an "open" kind, so just stuff placed on top of bread and butter/mascarpone/cream/mayo
  • Leftovers wrapped in tortilla, with added vegetable (everything that can be eaten raw, like bell pepper, tomato, cucumber etc.)
  • Yoghurt with mixed nuts - i add a tablespoon of jam/marmalade if i want it sweet (dried/fresh fruits are also fine)

Oh, also, yeah - i don't believe that all breakfast must be something served hot. I rarely do cooked breakfast, usually it's whenever my gf starts work late and we have time to fry/boil eggs in the morning.
And i think it's important to have veggies in your first meal of the day, so if there's one that you enjoy eating, add them to whatever you start your day with.

i start the day with a smoothie:

  • plain greek yogurt (full of protein and fat)
  • peach juice
  • frozen fruit (i switch it up day to day)
  • fresh fruit if i have some (way more flavor)
  • chia seeds
  • a lil salt, a couple splashes of sugar-free vanilla syrup, a bit of cinnamon, and juuust a lil bit of cardamom
  • sweetened condensed milk sometimes

it's full of fat, protein, fiber, and vitamin C. i can't really give amounts so if you try it you'll want to experiment with how much of what to use, and obviously you can use whatever flavors you want!

i work from home so i'll sometimes eat a cheese stick on my first break if i'm a lil hungry by then, but obviously this may or may not work for you

as an Indian person, I recommend aloo paratha, which is a bread stuffed with spiced potatoes, which you have with some plain tart yogurt (and some spiced pickles if you like). Your best route is to find a local Indian woman who makes them in her house and sells them as a side gig. You can also make them at home (which means you can adjust the spice as you’d like, or make them vegan etc) and cook them most of the way on the stovetop, and then freeze or refrigerate them and then just microwave them (or heat them on the stove again) for a minute when it’s breakfast time.
