I just really want it to be real. It's my ideal digital drawing tool and it's fake and nothing QUITE does what it would have done, at that price.
1 bit color, no special features, just a pencil and eraser, just a functionally infinite pad of paper.
There are devices kind of like that now but they START at mid 200s, nowhere near $99.
I really don't understand why e-ink screen and pen needs to cost so much. I prefer hand writing some kinds of notes and have wanted a tablet like this for ages.
As I understand it someone has a patent on the best version of the technology and is charging $$$$ for it, and also not licensing to small devs to figure out ways to make affordable products. It's keeping the prices way high. Any e paper stuff you see that isn't way high is usually only cheap cause of economy of scale nonsense or it's using much older, lousy versions of the displays.
