My partner is much shorter than I am, and I have a tendency to put things in high places, so I made them this step stool out of some inch and half inch bits that were going into the recycling. Roundovers and flame polish on all the exposed edges to keep anyone from cutting themselves, and a pattern of grooves to add grip on the riser. It's more than sturdy enough to carry three hundred and fifty pounds without flexing even a little!
The cork adhered to the bottom keeps it steady when used on linoleum, and keeps it quiet too.
