"mmmm babe?"
i ignore him.
"babe? i think a raccoon has gotten in again. i think i heard a pot break, must be in the foyer garden."
"ugh fine I'll go take care of it."
i get up, put on my robe, and head out to the foyer. it was just mittens, my cat. I pet her a bit and head back to the room.
"it's just my cat," i tell him. "go back to sleep, car."
"i didn't know you had a cat, Gio. let me pet her" he mumbles, half asleep.
"alright, if you insist. Mittens, kiss kiss sul letto."
Her weight as she lept onto the bed made Carpaccio bounce a good foot and gave me a chuckle. Then, he started freaking out.
"cos'è questo, the fuck, Gio bastardo che cazzo?"
"what, it's just mittens. she's a bit small for a mountain lion actually."
"eh? un Leone? are you crazy?"
"please." i say as I open the window. "she was here before you were, mi amore. her only violence is the heat she puts out in the night. it's going to be like an oven in here."
as I get back into bed, I wish Carpaccio goodnight. I don't think he slept that night.
