Irrational language annoyances: any use of "mindful" in a context other then "being mindful of [something]" or the actual therapeutic practice.

"Mindful stitching" what does that even mean. Of course you're minding your stitching, that's how stitching works. Should we also practice "wetful swimming"

I would probably ignore it if not for the culture and marketing around the idea that turns the actually important act of being aware of yourself into a buzzword to sell things like Happy Planner.

For anyone who is lucky enough to not know Happy Planner (and if you're reflexively cringing into the ground from the name alone that's correct), the idea is "what if planners were cutesy and themed to each task you might possibly want to do and constantly releasing new accessories and sticker packs so you need to Collect It All every month?" (and also they cost $30-50 for a cute notebook or binder and $20 minimum for every pack of cute pages or stickers you might want to put in it). They hardly ever sold. Clearance was 80% full of the shit because of course new sets means all the old stuff gets discounted and then thrown in a landfill.

And of course they, like mugs and Michaels wall decor, are plastered with phrases like "Just Breathe" and "Live Laugh Love" and other things your Aunt Kathy thinks are motivating, because you can only be mindful if you plaster every inch of your surroundings with $15+ reminders of it.

This isn't new, of course. Every time anything becomes popular, entire industries spring up around selling merch and turning it into a commodity. Then it's reduced to a buzzword to sell product, and all meaning is lost.

I guess my point is to practice mindful anti-capitalism.
