It's even dumber when you realize it was because I took a bet to steal a guy's sandwich, his response was to begin chasing me and trying to whoop my ass, and to win the bet I just shoved the whole thing in my mouth, thus, "squirrel"
Also this nickname in the 90s on IRC is how I first learned what furries were because one presumed I was such and I found myself in a very unexpected cybersex DM
