across the infinite cosmos of Eternity's Elegy, one world stands out in this regard: the planet of Qvar. upon Qvar, the air is thick and unbreathable to most life in the cosmos - and this is due to one specific organism. the airborne algae of Qvar are unique, held aloft by the magical currents that weave across the planet. they form the basis of Qvar's unique ecosystem, a world dominated by massive invertebrate life that thrives off of the incredibly oxygen content in the air.
meanwhile, in an entirely different part of that universe, deep in a place devoid of magic, the Ikanians thrive upon their home moon. only about a meter tall, the Ikanians superficially resemble a sort of monkey-cat. a long tail (tufted ones being seen as feminine), opposable thumbs, a catlike face and massive ears on a body that easily swaps between bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion visually defines this odd species. physiologically, though, they are a sort of...highly evolved sea spider. just by coincidence, they visually resemble Earth mammals (not that Earth exists within Eternity's Elegy), but it is purely visual.
