i dont know whats wrong with just shortening directions like in mortal kombat terminology though, that way it applies to both directions and is easier to understand

The main draw of numpad notation for me is that it makes it easy to share combos across languages. Generally though, you only have to do 270Β° for a 360 to count. So not only can you cut the last 360 short, but you can cut the first one short too. (If that's feasible for your input method.

true but its just annoying to go from D,U,L and R in mk to numpad notation i sf when you could just use df,uf,ub and db

imma make a cohost post about this to see what people think but i dont really think theres many downsides to this instead beyond language barriers and it also works both ways
