thinking about how tekken 8 is the new big hypebeast for the venerable franchise that had its last game least 8 YEARS and really made the whole thing come back into the limelight in a massive way...
and how it's now just riddled with the whole live service bollocks that everyone is already fucking tired of (microtransaction store with funbux, battle passes, etc) and the first dlc has already dropped (compare to t7's 5 month wait) and it's eddy fucking gordo, a character who has been a staple (or at least his style has (looking at T4 specifically but he's still IN THAT ONE)) since his fucking introduction, missing 0 tekkens and they're selling him for ??? money
because right now there's no way to buy him because the season pass is locked behind the deluxe edition which has a £35 price tag and also a 3-day exclusivity period for those that pony the cash
Not to mention he was revealed before the fucking game came out and also the mtx was added post launch so that reviewers wouldn't know it was going to be there WOO
Now don't get me wrong, Granblue Versus Rising also has a garbage battle pass I don't want to look at but at least the game is... good, and also you can (very very slowly) earn dlc characters by just... playing the game and also it has a free version (and for console players who also play gbf they get cool rewards)
Yes I'm being two-faced about it suck my nuts the overarching point is that I fucking hate what videogames are nowadays and I want it to just stop I just wanna... play games not look at all the fancy "woo look at all this cool shit that doesn't fundamentally alter your experience but costs a shitton of money anyway cause a crumb of it is required to stay remotely competitive" just
