Being a mutant was rough. Being a mutant with no real power was rougher. I couldn't threaten any kind of respect out of other demi-humans, but that didn't matter to mundane people who either feared me or just hated me for being a freak.

It was like that for all demi-humans, but at least other demi types had family and culture to fall back on.

No. That wasn't right to think. Not only did plenty of demi humans lack heritage, having heritage didn't guarantee a smooth life. Additionally, I had the privilege to choose for myself to be apart of something bigger, because if needed I could rely on The Brotherhood of Mutants.

Oh it's just like...

So I'm mixed Puerto Rican and white, but I'm white passing. I have a complicated relationship to my heritage, and I'm more or less completely divorced from Puerto Rican culture, because my family didn't pass that down.

Its also just stuff that's been on my mind lately
